Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

04 Methods Design, samples/specimens, laboratory procedures, analysis
05 Results Findings presented with tables and/or figures
06 Discussion Interpretation, comparison with prior studies, limitations
07 Conclusion Concise summary of key findings and implications
08 Acknowledgments Funding sources and non-author contributors
09 References Vancouver style, minimum 20 references, 80% from the last 5 years

Citation Style

JMLD follows the Vancouver (numbered) reference style, as recommended by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) for biomedical and health science publications. In-text citations are numbered in the order they appear, using superscript or bracketed numbers, and correspond to the numbered reference list. Authors are strongly encouraged to manage citations using Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote to ensure formatting consistency.

Tables and Figures

Number tables and figures consecutively in the order they are cited in the text. Each must include a clear, self-explanatory caption. Figures should be submitted in high-resolution format (minimum 300 dpi), and laboratory images must clearly indicate scale, staining method, or magnification where applicable.

Submission Checklist
Manuscript follows JMLD's structure and formatting specifications.
All references are cited in Vancouver style using a reference manager.
Author identity is removed from the manuscript file for blind review.
Ethical clearance / institutional approval is attached, where applicable.
A similarity report is included, or the manuscript is ready for JMLD's plagiarism screening.
Each author's ORCID iD is provided in the submission metadata.
