Implementation of Dental Care Examination Program as an Early Detection of Complications in Pregnancy in Kaliwates and Banjarsengon Public Heatlh Facilities on 2019

Regulation of the Minister of Health Number 89 in 2015 has regulated dental and oral health service for pregnant women. But in practice, the implementation of the program has not been maximized due to lack of public awareness and attention on the importance of dental and oral health. Unsupervised dental and oral health have adverse effect not only to the mother but also to the fetus by increasing the risk of developing pregnancy complication. Researchers aim to evaluate the implementation of dental examination in pregnant women as an early detection effort of preeclampsia in Jember. Data are gathered from in-depth interviews, documents review, and direct observation using medical records of patient in maternal and child health ward and dental care ward in Kaliwates and Banjarsengon Public Health Center. The implementation of dental examination in pregnant woman in public health center in Jember has been well executed. The number of preeclampsia case in Kaliwates Public Health Center increased in 2018 and 2019 while the number of case in Banjarsengon Public Health Center has decreased. The implementation of program in Jember district has not met the maximum reach due to limitation of dental and public health facilities which have implement the program. Banjarsengon Public Health Center had well-implemented the program and exceeded the target of examinations with 1.053 examinations. Kaliwates Public Health Center completed 770 examinations which had not reached the target 837 examinations. The number of preeclampsia increased in Kaliwates Public Health Center from 4 cases in 2018 to 11 cases in 2019, contrary to Banjarsengon Public Health Center which has shown a decrease from 22 cases in 2018 to 19 cases in 2019.
