Abstract

Synbiotic milk is a probiotic fermented milk combined with prebiotics. Trans oil is an oil/fat with a trans structure. Trans oil consumed in excess and continuously can have an impact on the digestive system. This study aims to determine the effect of synbiotic milk (SS) containing banana horn flour (TP) on the morphology of the duodenum mice induced by trans oil (MT). A total of 30 male mice of the DDY strain aged 2 months were divided into 6 groups, namely MT; MT + simvastatin dose 0.4 mg/20grBB; MT+SS; MT+SS(1%TP); MT+SS(3%TP); and MT+SS(5%TP). Trans oil doses of 200mg/20grBB are administered on days 1-14. Synbiotic milk dose 200mg/20grBB is administered on days 15-28. Day 29 all mice are terminated decapitationally cervical and duodenal organs are taken for histological preparations to be made. The morphology of the duodenal mucosa was analyzed descriptively. Morphologically the duodenum was found erosion of villi and desquamation of the mucous epithelium. The rate of erosion and desquamation of the epithelium of the duodenal mucosa from successive highs and lows namely the MT, MT + Simvastatin and MT+SS groups. The higher the percentage of banana flour the more it lowers the rate of erosion of the villi and the desquamation of the epithelium of the duodenal mucosa. In the synbiotics milk group with 5% banana flour no erosion of the villi and desquamation of the duodenal epithelium were found. Thus, it can be concluded that synbiotics milk improves the morphology of the duodenal mucosa from villi erosion and epithelial desquamation resulting from trans oils.
