Hypertension is a risk factor for peripheral arterial disease. Hypertension contributes to the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis, the basic pathological process underlying peripheral vascular disease. Peripheral artery disease is more common in the lower extremities and can cause repetitive fatigue, cramping sensations, or pain. Garlic supplements have shown effectiveness in reducing blood pressure in hypertensive patients. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of garlic-lanang type of black garlic on ankle and brachial blood pressure (ankle brachial index/ABI value). A quasi-experimental design (One-group pretest-posttest design) and 20 hypertensive patients were used in this study. The sampling technique used was the consecutive sampling technique. The instrument used was a digital sphygmomanometer to measure the ABI value. Data analysis used Paired T-Test. The results of statistical calculations show a significance value of 0.041 (? <0.05), meaning "there is a significant difference in the mean ABI value before and after 14 days with a total dose of 6 grams/day. An increase in the ABI value of 0.039, an increase in the ABI value indicates an improvement in the condition of the blood vessels. In conclusion, consumption of black garlic of lanang type at a dose of 6gr/day for 14 days was effective in improving the value of the ankle brachial index/ABI in some patients with uncontrolled hypertension.
