Skin is the largest organ in the human body and accounts for about 16% of the total body weight. As we get older, changes occur in the body including the skin. Clear manifestations are wrinkles, pigmentation, and reduced pigmentation and skin elasticity. The skin contains 70% of collagen which gives a strong effect on the skin. The composition of collagen will decrease with age. In the last few years, collagen supplements are increasingly used. This article was made to find out more about the therapy of collagen supplementation in terms of preventing aging in Indonesia. Sources of literature used are Pubmed, Google Scholar, Medline, Ebsco, Hindawi, Science Direct, and Cochrane. The selection is carried out to choose the appropriate literature and the writing of the literature will be carried out. Collagen supplementation has become a trend in dermatology and cosmetics to slow down the aging process. Oral and topical collagen supplements are said to contribute in preventing premature aging. Based on the literature search, collagen has a positive effect in preventing premature aging by increasing skin moisture, elasticity, reducing wrinkles and compensating oxidative damage to fibroblasts. Skin aging is a multifactorial biological process and which normally occurs in the third decade of a human's life. Signs of skin aging are characterized by wrinkles, reduced skin elasticity and rough texture. Collagen supplementation has been proven to prevent the skin aging process with various physiological mechanisms.
