Efek Antihipergklikemi dan Perbaikan Fungsi Ginjal, Ekstrak Etanol Daun Matoa (Pometia Pinnata J.R & G.Forst) dengan Parameter Kadar Kreatinin dan Histopatologi pada Tikus Diabetes Nefropati yang Diinduksi Streptozotosin-Nikotinamid
Abstract
Matoa leaf (Pometia pinnata J.R. & G. Forst) is one of the plants used as medicine in Indonesia. The matoa plant has been used by Asian people (Papua New Guinea, Malaysia and Indonesia) as a traditional and empirical medicine which has many uses in antihypertensive, antioxidant and antibacterial treatment. One of its uses is as an antidiabetic drug. The purpose of this study was to determine the antihyperglycemic effect and the effect of ethanol extract on matoa leaves that could affect serum creatinine and reduce blood glucose levels induced by STZ-NA. and renal histopathology. Experimental research subjects used 30 male wistar rats conditioned with type 2 DM for 24 days. Rats were divided into 6 groups, namely group I normal, group II negative control STZ-NA 65 mg/kg body weight and 230 mg/kg body weight, group III positive control glibenclamide 0.45 mg/kg body weight, group IV ethanol extract of matoa leaves 98 mg /kg BW, group V matoa leaf extract 196 mg/kg BW, group VI matoa leaf extract 392 mg/kg BW. All groups were given STZ-NA induction except the normal group were given standard feed. The test preparation extract was administered for 14 days. In conclusion, matoa leaf extract (Pometia pinnata J.R. & G. Forst) has an effect on reducing blood glucose levels and creatinine levels on rat kidney function, and is able to improve the histopathological picture of the kidney in diabetic nephropathy rats.
Keywords: Ethanol extract of matoa leaves, serum creatinine, diabetic nephropathy and kidney histopathology.
