Wound healing is a form of process to repair damage that occurs in the skin tissue structure. In the wound healing process, neovascularization, epithelialization and fibroblast processes are needed to accelerate the wound healing process. Gotu kola leaves (Centella asiatica) acts as a wound healer which contains antioxidant compounds, antimicrobial agents and collagen synthesis agents. This study aims to find out how administration of Centella asiatica leaf extract gel increases neovascularization, epithelialization, and the number of fibroblasts in male rats. This research uses experimental research type Post test Only Control Group Design. The population in this study were 36 adult white rats (Rattus norvegicus), male and healthy, aged 24 months and weighing 350-550 grams. In this study, a sample of 26 rats was divided into 2 groups, namely the control group and the treatment group and adapted for 10 days. The results showed that based on the comparability test showing vascularization, a sig value of 0.003 (0.003 <0.05) was obtained with an average value of vascularity after 10 days of treatment was 0.44 ± 0.53, in epithelialization a sig value of 0.003 (0.003 <0.05) with an average value of epithelialization after 10 days of treatment was 3.00 ± 0.00, for fibroblasts a sig value of 0.000 (0.000 <0.05) was obtained with the mean value of fibroblasts after 10 days of treatment was 0.56 ± 0.53. based on the results of the study showed that administration of Centella asiatica leaf extract gel increased neovascularization, epithelialization, and the number of fibroblasts in male rats.
