Freeze Drying Tomatoes As An Effort To Improve Anemia Status In Pregnant Women (Hemoglobin Level Study)

The prevalence of anemia pregnant women in the city of Semarang is 12.84%. government program in preventing anemia by administering Fe for 90 days is less effective in improving anemia status in pregnant women. Efforts have been made to improve anemia status by giving fruit and vegetable juices.To find out whether giving freeze dried tomatoes can improve anemia status in anemic pregnant women.This type of research is Quasy Experiment, pretest posttest with control group design. Independent variable administration of freeze dried tomatoes containing 50 mg of vitamin C, dependent variable hemoglobin level, sampling technique using purposive sampling, sample size of 40 pregnant women in trimesters I, II, III who are anemic, divided into control group (given Fe tablets) and treatment (freeze drying of tomatoes and Fe tablets). Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test and independent t test.Giving freeze dried tomatoes (FdT) containing 50 mg of vitamin C to pregnant women who experience anemia for 10 days has an effect on improving anemia status, as indicated by an increase in. Hemoglobin level from 9.665 gr/dl to 10.970 gr/dl. Freeze drying tomatoes can potentially be used as a companion to Fe tablets in improving anemia status in anemic pregnant women.
