The unfavorable consequences of obesity are closely related to various degenerative diseases. School-based balanced nutrition education program as an effort to improve body weight and nutritional behavior of obese students has proven to be effective. Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) contains 70-85% MCFAs which are easily oxidized and are not stored in adipose tissue as in LCFA. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of counseling using pocket books and the provision of VCO on nutritional knowledge, nutrient intake and nutritional status of students Obesity elementary school at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) Ummushabri Pesri Kendari, March - August 2018. This type of research is a quasi-experimental pre-post test design. The population students in grades 4, 5, and 6 are obese aged 10-12 years. The sample size is 30 people, taken purposively sampling. The research data were analyzed by paired T-test. From the results of this study, after nutritional counseling and VCO administration to obese elementary school students, there was an increase in nutritional knowledge, on the other hand a decrease in energy, protein, carbohydrate and body weight intake. However, there was no difference in the intake of fat, fiber and nutritional status. Research suggestion: in an effort to increase nutritional knowledge in elementary school children, the "Gentas" pocket book can be used. Giving VCO to obese children can be given as a source of energy to prevent excess weight gain.
