Analisis Tingkat Pengetahuan, Sikap, Dan Praktik Masyarakat Nelayan Terhadap Upaya Pencegahan Dekompresi Dan Barotrauma di Kampung Nelayan Kota Makassar

Diving fishermen are at risk of health problems and threats to disability and even death. Common problems that occur in diver fishermen are decompression and barotrauma, both of which can cause fatal health problems. This study aims to determine the level of knowledge, attitudes, and practices of fishing communities regarding efforts to prevent decompression and barotrauma in Untia Fisherman's Village, Makassar City. The research was conducted using a cross-sectional study method. The population and sample are fishing communities in the Untia Fisherman's Village, Makassar City. The study results showed that fishermen had good knowledge of 86%, attitudes in the good category were 98%, and practices in the good category were 58%. As well as the influence between the use of breathing apparatus and the knowledge and practices of fishermen regarding the prevention of decompression and barotrauma with p-values ??of 0.003 and 0.040. Even so, there are still some fishermen who do not use personal protective equipment (PPE) when diving, so further research is needed on this matter. In addition, this study can be a reference for future researchers to deepen research that focuses on preventing decompression and barotrauma.
