Background: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is one of the most important risk factors for worsening TB. Since the beginning of the 20th century, clinicians have observed an association between DM and TB, although it is still difficult to determine whether DM precedes TB or TB causes the clinical manifestations of DM. The term DM describes a metabolic disorder with various etiologies characterized by chronic hyperglycemia with disturbances of carbohydrate, protein, and fat metabolism as a result of defects in insulin secretion, insulin action, or both. Pulmonary Tuberculosis (TB) is a disease infection caused by a rod-shaped bacterium (bacillus) known as Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Transmission of this disease through the intercession of patient's sputum or droplets containing positive Mycobacterium tuberculosis bacteria enters the human body through the respiratory tract. R.M Djoelham Binjai. Methods: This study used descriptive research with a cross-sectional study design, which was used to determine the prevalence of pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) in patients with diabetes mellitus at RSUD Dr. R.M Djoelham Binjai. Research Results: Based on examination of 36 samples, it was found that 16 people (44.4%) with diabetes mellitus had tuberculosis (TB). While the remaining 20 people (55.6%) were found to be negative for TB. This shows that the percentage is not large because it does not exceed 50%. Of the 36 samples examined, 16 of them were women (44.4%) and the other 20 were men (55.6%).
