Perbandingan Efektivitas Tindakan Laparoskopi Dan Open Herniotomi Sebagai Tatalaksana Hernia Pada Pasien Anak : Sebuah Review
Keywords:

Hernia is one of the most common congenital abnormalities in infants and children. Surgical management of hernias is required to reduce the risk of complications. In cases of hernias, surgical management options include open surgery and laparoscopy. Each of these procedures has advantages and disadvantages, and the application for each type of hernia is also different. International guidelines have established appropriate surgical management for adult patients with inguinal hernias. However, there are no standard guidelines regarding which one is more effective for use in cases of pediatric hernias, whether open surgery or laparoscopy. Objective: To compare the effectiveness of laparoscopic surgery with open surgery in pediatric patients with hernia. Methods: Literature review of four database; PubMed, DOAJ, Cochrane, and Google Scholar published within the last 5 years from 2018-2022. Results: There were 14 studies reporting the advantages and disadvantages of each procedure. Laparoscopy has the advantage of reducing hospital stay, operating time, risk of inflammation, and pain. This procedure also has an aesthetic advantage because it doesn't leave many surgical scars. According to several studies, laparoscopy can reduce the risk of complications and postoperative recurrence. As a result, laparoscopy is an effective and safe treatment for hernias in children. Conclusion: There are disparities in research findings regarding the effectiveness of laparoscopic procedures with open herniotomies as a hernia treatment in pediatric patients. Both procedures have advantages and disadvantages. As a result, the decision made must be considerate of both the patient and the doctor.
