Sepsis is a condition of organ dysfunction caused by disruption of the body's inflammatory response in dealing with infection. Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a sudden decrease in Glomerulus Filtration Rate (GFR) for ? 7 days, an increase in serum creatinine ?0.3 mg/dL within 48 hours or an increase in serum creatinine ?1.5 times from the baseline within 7 days or urine volume <0.5 mL/kg body weight/hour for 6 hours. Sepsis-associated acute kidney injury (S-AKI) is a complication that commonly occurs in treated septic patients and increases the risk of disease worsening and the risk of mortality. Several risk factors are associated with the occurrence of S-AKI but the full risk factors are not fully known. This study is a literature review of studies in the following database: Pubmed, Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, Ebsco and Hindawi that were published in the last 5 years. After finding a variety of appropriate literature, the writing of the manuscript began. Overall risk factors of S-AKI that were found are gender, race, history of heart failure, diabetes, obesity, use of Angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEI) or angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARB), bilirubin, creatinine, blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and mechanical ventilation. S-AKI is a complication that commonly occurs in \ septic patients. Risk factors should be assessed early for initial treatment to reduce mortality
