Faktor Water, Sanitation, dan Hygiene (WASH) dengan Kejadian Stunting pada Balita di Kawasan Pesisir
Abstract
Background : Stunting is a disorder of growing height due to chronic malnutrition during the growth period, especially in the first 1000 days of life (HPK) (World Health Organization, 2020).
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the factors of water, sanitation, and hygiene with the incidence of stunting in coastal areas. Method : This study uses quantitative research with primary data using a questionnaire adopted from (Khairil Sinatrya & Muniroh, 2019). Samples were drawn using proposive sampling, namely using samples based on criteria determined by the researchers themselves. The researcher uses a non-probability sampling technique because not everyone gets the opportunity to be sampled where the focus of the researchers is only mothers who have children under five aged 0-3 years as the research focus (respondents). Results : The results of the chi square test on the variable water with stunting yielded a p-value of 0.000, on the variable sanitation with stunting it had a p-value of 0.001, the results of the chi square test on the variable washing hands with stunting had a p-value of 0.001 where these results indicate that the three factors This affects the incidence of stunting. Conculusion : The factor of water that does not meet the requirements, family behavior in open defecation and hand washing has an effect on the incidence of stunting in coastal areas. These factors are still widely practiced in the community but are still often underestimated.
