Abstract

Anxiety disorders are things that are often experienced by mothers that arise due to the mother's inability and readiness to accept the presence of her baby who requires special care in the first weeks of birth. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between knowledge and anxiety of post-partum mothers in the care of newborns at Dewi Sartika Kendari General Hospital in 2018. This type of research is an analytic study with a cross sectional design. The samples of this research were all postpartum mothers who gave birth normally in the postpartum room of Dewi Sartika Kendari General Hospital, totaling 34 people. The data collection instrument was a questionnaire regarding the mother's knowledge and anxiety level. Data were analyzed using Chi Square test. The results of the study, there is a significant relationship between knowledge and anxiety of postpartum mothers in the care of newborns with a value of p = 0.000 <? = 0.05 with X2 count = 22.297. Post-partum mothers should increase knowledge about newborn care and increase mental and physical readiness to prevent anxiety in postpartum mothers.
