Breastfeeding remains a constraints on some mothers who have sick neonates who are on treatment at the hospitals. The breastfeeding self-efficacy relates to the breastfeeding duration which influences the success of mothers in breastfeeding at least exclusively. The objective of this study is to identify factors that relate with the breastfeeding self-efficacy of mothers with sick neonates who are on treatment in the neonatal care room. This study uses Cross sectional design taken from 88 mothers recruited using consecutive sampling method, BSE-SF (cronbach’s alpha 0.815) and EPDS (cronbach’s alpha 0.698) questionnaire measurement tools in the Indonesian language version and questionnaire developed by researcher i.e. husband support (cronbach’s alpha 0.815), family support (cronbach’s alpha 0.698), as well as friend support (cronbach’s alpha 0.849). The analysis result of Chi square shows that stress is a factor that can affect the breastfeeding self-efficacy of mothers with ill neonates (p = < 0.01). Nurses or healthcare officers should watch over the psychological condition of mothers who have sick neonates who are on treatment.
