The Effect of Not Using Footwear and Washing Hands on the High Prevalence of Worms

One of the health problems of the population in Indonesia which is still a high incidence is worm infection. WHO noted that about 1.5 billion people suffer from worms and 60% of them are children. Factors that can cause the risk of causing worms include feet that are directly in contact with the ground because they do not wear footwear, the habit of defecating (BAB) anywhere, hand washing habitsThe research design used was experimental research: Quasy Experiment with pretest-posstest comparison group design, that is, the entire case and control sample is subjected to an overall stool examination (pretest), then the sample was observed for 2 months and given treatment in the case group. After that, all samples are subjected to a posttest examination. Sampling was done by total sampling method with a total sample of 68people each. The results showed that there was an effect of the habit of not using footwear (p: 0,000) and habit of not washing hands (p: 0,000) on the prevalence of worms in SD Inpres 5 Doom Distrik Sorong Island Sorong Papua Barat. The conclusion of the study shows that the habit of not using footwear and the habit of not washing hands affects the prevalence of worms. So it is suggested to principals and related agencies to always provide education related to PHBS for elementary students
