The Effect of Health Education regarding Hypertension in the Elderly Living in a Nursing Home

Hypertension is still a health problem in the elderly group. As a result of rapid development and a prosperous standard of living, health services can increase life expectancy, so that the number of elderly people increases every year. the increase in age is often followed by an increase in degenerative diseases and other health problems in this group. The general objective of this study was to determine the effect of health education regarding elderly hypertension on the knowledge of the elderly living in the orphanage. This research is a research with a Quasi-experimental approach through the design (Pre-Post Test) One Group Design. The population in this study were all elderly who live in the orphanage. The sample of this study was 57 elderly suffering from hypertension who were taken by total sampling. The results of the research of respondents in this study were there were differences in the effect of health education regarding hypertension on knowledge of the elderly. It is suggested for nursing home nurses to continue with structured health education so that elderly people with hypertension can be treated early.
